Voices from Nexus

One question struck me deeply: What is the problem, and why? That simple thought has broadened my interest in research and reshaped how I see health equity.
Lawal Adebola
Delegate
This was my first poster presentation and I was nervous, but HEAL Society gave me a platform to share, learn, and connect. I left proud of what I delivered.
Rukoyah Adedeji
Poster Presenter
From social media to social change, from leadership to research writing - HEAL Nexus delivered beyond my expectations. It wasn’t just a conference; it was transformation.
Anyanwu Chidinma
Delegate
We dived into manuscript writing, abstracts, and even how to win grants. Beyond the learning, the camaraderie and even visiting the zoo made it unforgettable. I am Change. I am Impact. I am a Healer.
Kolawole Jubril Kayode
Delegate
I showed up hoping to learn but left with new friends, fresh ideas, and a passion to drive health equity.” “HEAL Nexus is a reminder that every bold move starts with courage. What seemed unrealistic months ago became a vision, and eventually, a Big Impact.
Iwaleso Akintunde
HEAL Fellow ’24, Host School Organizing Chair
The energy and brilliance of these young people is the best proof that Nigeria’s health future is in good hands.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is HEAL Nexus?

HEAL Nexus is HEAL’s flagship annual convening that brings together young leaders, researchers, advocates, and innovators committed to advancing health equity across African universities. It is a space for collaboration, learning, and bold solutions to real health challenges.

HEAL Nexus welcomes student leaders, HEAL Fellows, university representatives, researchers, public health professionals, and partners interested in youth-driven health systems transformation. Delegates typically represent multiple universities across Nigeria and other countries across the Globe

HealthHack is the innovation segment of HEAL Nexus where multidisciplinary student teams collaborate to design practical solutions to pressing health challenges. Participants work on real-world problems and pitch their ideas for feedback, recognition, and potential implementation.

Universities can participate by nominating student leaders, joining the HEAL campus network, or partnering with the organising team ahead of the next convening. Institutions can express interest through the official HEAL contact channels or partnership form when registrations open.

Organisations, institutions, and individuals can partner through sponsorship, technical collaboration, mentorship support, or in-kind contributions. Interested partners can contact the HEAL team directly to explore tailored collaboration opportunities.

The full HEAL Nexus Impact Report and selected event photos are available on the conference page under the “Resources” section. Additional media and updates may also be shared across HEAL’s official platforms.
